New mental health facility for children in Ohio
Coleman Professional Services (Kent, Ohio) has announced that it will be breaking ground for the Center of Excellence for Children this spring. The building will be located adjacent to the company’s headquarters in Kent. Coleman currently sees children and adolescents in three different buildings in Portage County. While the younger clients will continue to be treated in these locations, the new building will be specifically child and family focused.
Dr. Scott Pacer, Coleman’s Child Psychiatry Medical Director, said, “The new Children’s Center of Excellence will provide a child-centered approach to treating children with mental health needs in an inviting and family-friendly environment where children and families can feel safe and comfortable talking about the issues affecting them.”
While the new addition will certainly benefit the clients, Pacer also noted that there will be benefits to the staff as well: "The increased space will bring child psychiatry, counseling, and case management staff together in a more collaborative way to foster a more interdisciplinary approach."
The total cost of the project is approximately $1.7 million. Coleman has secured commitments totaling nearly $500,000 from philanthropic donors, but is looking to secure additional commitments for this project including the opportunity to name various rooms and even the building itself.
