Netsmart names new CEO
Great River, N.Y. — Netsmart Technologies, Inc., a provider of software and services for health and human services organizations, announced that Michael Valentine has been named as the company's CEO.
Valentine will join Netsmart from Cerner Corporation, where he served as executive vice president and chief operating officer. He will succeed James Conway, who is retiring after 15 years as Netsmart CEO. Conway will play an active role in the leadership transition.
"Mike's background in health information technology will be valuable as Netsmart helps its clients address key emerging trends such as integration with primary care, certification, interoperability and increasing consumer involvement in the care process," said Mark Hanson, chairman of Netsmart and managing director of Genstar Capital, Netsmart's investment partner.
"This transition process has been underway for the past year," Hanson added, "and we are pleased that Mike will be joining Netsmart to build on the strong foundation of Jim Conway's leadership that has made Netsmart a solid, stable company, well-positioned for long-term growth and success. We thank Jim for his years of leadership and wish him the best in his well-deserved retirement!"
In his most recent role at Cerner, Valentine was responsible for all global operations, including sales, consulting, technology, solution direction and support for Cerner's worldwide operations. His transition from that role will be completed on May 13.
"At the heart of any successful company are strong, trusted client relationships built on a track record of proven execution," said Valentine. "As the market leader, Netsmart is in the unique position of being able to 'lead' with the best solutions through a commitment to innovation; 'lead' with the best service through the use of proven tools and methods; and 'lead' our clients through an unprecedented environment of regulatory and reimbursement change.
He added: "I'm excited to have the opportunity with Netsmart to set a new bar not only for health and human services' largest collaborative client community, but for the broader healthcare market as well."
