Hackensack Meridian Health and Carrier Clinic announce merger
Integrated health network Hackensack Meridian Health and Carrier Clinic in New Jersey announced merger plans that will combine their services in the treatment of behavioral health and substance use disorders. The deal will include:
- A new addiction treatment center in New Jersey, scheduled to open in 2019
- 24-hour access to care, ranging from outpatient to urgent, residential and inpatient care for adolescent and adult mental health and addiction
- A multidisciplinary team that includes primary care, psychiatrists and advanced practice nurses to coordinate addiction treatment, routine care and treatment of mental health issues
- Enhanced behavioral health research and increased opportunities for Hackensack’s psychiatry residency and fellowship programs
The agreement between Hackensack Meridian Health and Carrier Clinic is subject to regulatory review.
Based in Edison, N.J., Hackensack Meridian health operates 16 hospitals, more than 450 patient care locations and physician offices in eight counties. Carrier Clinic, a 100-acre rural campus in Belle Mead, N.J., provides short-term, acute care hospitalization for psychiatric illness and substance abuse for adolescents and adults. The campus includes a licensed 281-bed inpatient psychiatric hospital, a licensed 40-bed inpatient and outpatient detox and recovery facility.
