Insight Behavioral Health Center launches new program designed to focus on women
One Chicago mental health organization is launching a new program designed to address the distinctive needs of women in all reproductive stages of life. The expansion is the latest move for Insight Behavioral Health Centers LLC, which also provides treatment for patients with mood and anxiety disorders, and eating disorders.
"Women have mental health needs that are often different from those of men," says Insight's co-founder Susan McClanahan, Ph.D. "Our focus will be on the integrated evaluation and treatment of psychiatric disorders associated with reproductive events, such as perinatal mental health, post-partum depression and menopause."
Vesna Pirec, M.D., Ph.D, has been named to lead the new program. Dr. Pirec was previously the Program Director of Women's Mental Health in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois in Chicago. She has joined the management team in the role of Chief Medical Director.
As with this change, Insight Behavioral Health Centers has been steadily growing to provide quality mental health treatment throughout the Chicago area. In the past year alone, they report that the number of clinicians on staff has doubled to 75 in response to the demand for mental health services.
