Few aware of their mental health coverage

Twenty-seven percent of Americans have accessed treatment from a mental health professional. By law, insurers are required to cover services for mental health, behavioral health and substance-use disorders in a way that is comparable to coverage for physical health. How many insurance customers actually know that? Not many apparently.

A new survey from the American Psychological Association (APA) indicates that individuals age 18 and older are concerned about their cost for treatment despite mental health parity laws.
