Father Martin`s Ashley announces additions to clinical team

Havre de Grace, Md. — Father Martin's Ashley, a private, nonprofit alcoholism and drug addiction treatment center, has announced the addition of Peter H. Musser, PhD, as its full-time clinical psychologist and Wendy Insalaco, MS, CAC, CCDP, as clinical supervisor. They join the clinical team now led by recently appointed clinical program director George Plesniak, ACRPS, CAC-AD, MS.

"We are thrilled to have these two outstanding professionals as part of our clinical team," said Dr. Bernadette Solounias, MD, vice president of treatment services at Father Martin's Ashley.

Musser comes to Ashley with over 12 years of combined therapeutic, teaching and psychological research experience. He has worked as a private practice clinician and a faculty member at McDaniel College in Westminster, Md., and also supervised a program for battered persons and domestic violence prevention.

"Peter brings the perfect mix of experience, knowledge of therapeutic technique, empathy and compassion to his new role," Solounias said. "His understanding of addiction, trauma, motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy enhances our ability to help patients who have experienced trauma or other disorders that often co-occur with substance abuse.

Musser holds a doctorate of philosophy in human services psychology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and a Master of Arts in general psychology with an emphasis in research methods from The Catholic University of America. He is a member of the American Psychological Association, Maryland Psychological Association, American Counseling Association and the former Co-Chair of the Maryland Abuser Intervention Collaborative.

Insalaco holds a Master of Science degree in clinical psychology from Millersville University and a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from East Stroudsburg University. She is a Certified Addiction Counselor and Certified Co-occurring Disorders Professional. Prior to joining Ashley, Insalaco was director of clinical services at an addiction treatment center in Hanover, Pa.

"Wendy's extensive experience directing clinical services further strengthens our clinical team," noted Solounias. "Like Peter, she brings valuable expertise in co-occurring disorders that will add an important dimension to the breadth of services we can offer our patients."
