Can technology be addictive?

No question. Most people are dependent upon technology, but none more than those under the age of forty. But are they addicted?

In a recent study by Infographic, nearly three in four people reported that they could not be without technology—and especially smartphones—for even a day. And they rated separation from smartphones as high anxiety. Higher than getting married or going to the dentist.

Most (85%) said they believe it is possible to be addicted to smartphones and technology in ways similar to those addicted to alcohol, drugs, or gambling. And more than half acknowledged that they might be addicted as they found the need to check their smartphones at least every hour.
