UHS to Build Behavioral Health Hospital on Valley Children’s Campus

Valley Children’s Healthcare this week announced that Universal Health Services (UHS) is building a 128-bed behavioral health facility on the company’s campus in Madera, California. UHS will be the facility’s sole owner and operator.

The new behavioral health hospital will include a 24-bed unit dedicated to pediatric psychiatric care, treatment, services and educational needs. Additional units will be dedicated to adult and senior patients. The hospital will employ more than 250 clinicians, nurses, mental health technicians, support staff and administration professionals.

Units designed for children and adolescents ages 5 to 17 will a suite of inpatient services. The new facility will also feature specialty programs for adults to treat co-occurring behavioral health and substance use disorders, as well as outpatient programs for various behavioral health issues.

Construction of the new behavioral health hospital is slated to begin in 2020, and the hospital is projected to open in 2022.
