Summit BHC Acquires Highland Hospital in West Virginia

Summit BHC announced this week that it has acquired Highland Hospital, a 131-bed psychiatric facility in Charleston, West Virginia. The deal is Summit’s second acquisition of 2020, following the acquisition of an acute psychiatric and behavioral health hospital in Colorado in January.

Highland, which becomes Summit’s first property in West Virginia, has 91 beds for inpatient acute psychiatric care and 24 beds for residential psychiatric treatment. Highland Health Center, a 16-bed crisis residential/detox substance use disorder facility licensed as a behavioral health center, was also included in the deal.

Based in Franklin, Tennessee, Summit BHC operates a network of 20 freestanding behavioral health and addiction treatment centers in 15 states.
