Phoenix House Mid-Atlantic Rebrands as National Capital Treatment & Recovery

The former Phoenix House Mid-Atlantic, an Arlington, Virginia-based not-for-profit substance use disorder treatment provider, announced that it has changed its name to National Capital Treatment & Recovery (NCTR). The organization has also announced that it is approaching a multi-year fundraising milestone of $1 million for patient treatment funds.

Founded as an alcohol addiction treatment program in 1962 under the name Alcohol Rehabilitation Inc., NCTR has served 50,000 patients in its history and has added services to its list of treatment offerings, including treatment for opioid use disorder. The organization now operates eight treatment programs. NCTR joined the national organization Phoenix House in 2010, but in 2019, its board of directors voted to end the affiliation and the company became an independent organization once again.

“Our commitment to our patients and their families has never wavered,” NCTR president and CEO Deborah S. Taylor said in a news release. “No matter our name, we have successfully evolved over 58 years of service by adapting to the changing needs of the patients we serve, taking the lessons from the past to continually inform and enhance our future. We are consistently incorporating new methods of proven treatment practices to improve our outcomes.”
