Community Health Network and Fairbanks Announce Merger

Indianapolis-based Community Health Network on Thursday announced a merger with Fairbanks that will make the addiction treatment provider part of the network’s behavioral health system.

The deal, expected to be finalized by Dec. 31, is the latest in a series of behavioral healthcare-related initiatives for Community Health Network. Earlier this year, the company opened an inpatient psychiatric unit and also launched a behavioral health academy in collaboration with programs at the Indiana University School of Social Work and the University of Indianapolis.

The merger with Fairbanks will help flesh out Community Health Network’s continuum of addiction and behavioral health services. The deal also provides patients access to a primary care system and network of specialists. Community Health Network includes 16,000 caregivers and 200 sites of care.

According to an Indianapolis Star report, Fairbanks will continue to operate under its existing name and the merger is not expected to result in any physical changes to the property.
