CleanSlate expands to address opioid crisis

In response to the growing opioid crisis in Massachusetts and across the country, CleanSlate Addiction Treatment Centers has opened its eleventh outpatient treatment center in the state.

In Plymouth, where the new center is located, there has been an average of one opioid-related overdose per day in 2015. Additionally, there have been 11 opioid-related deaths in Plymouth this year alone. There is currently an average of three opioid-related deaths each day in the state.

CleanSlate is a network of treatment providers of medication-assisted services with buprenorphine and extended-release naltrexone.

In 2009, CleanSlate's assistance was requested by Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital (BID)-Plymouth. "They called and asked us to come work with them to help solve this problem," says CleanSlate President, CEO, and Board Certified Addictionist Amanda Wilson, MD, in a company statement. "BID-Plymouth has been highly proactive in addressing the issue, and felt that CleanSlate could help bridge the huge gap that exists in the availability of longitudinal, quality outpatient care."

With nearly 250 employees—93 physicians and 40 advanced practice clinicians—CleanSlate has treated over 22,000 patients in Massachusetts and has nearly 5,000 patients in active treatment. There are plans to expand CleanSlate's network into Pennsylvania, Iowa, Kentucky, Ohio, Washington, Oregon, West Virginia and Delaware.
