ATMA Opens Psychedelic Therapy Facility in Calgary

ATMA Journey Centers this month has opened the first non-ketamine psychedelic therapy clinic in Canada.

The Alberta-based company announced the opening of ATMA Calgary Urban Journey Clinic, a 5,000-square-foot facility in central Calgary that will also serve as the home base of the National Psychedelic Training Center, which will provide professional training on the provision of therapy services.

ATMA was the first private organization in Canada to conduce legal psychedelic-assisted therapy with psilocybin after the company was selected by a palliative patient in Alberta to be granted a Section 56 exemption by Health Canada. ATMA is scheduling additional therapy sessions for patients facing terminal illness with Section 56 exemptions at the Calgary facility.

“Being able to assist individual patients with psychedelic-assisted therapy at our Calgary Journey Clinic will help us directly impact the quality of lives of each individual undergoing therapy,” ATMA co-CEO David Harder said in a news release. “Launching the National Psychedelic Training Center will also magnify the impact we can have even further by equipping Canadian therapists to provide this extraordinary solution across Canada as legal access to psychedelic medicine expands.”
