Aion Therapeutic Opens International Center in Jamaica
Aion Therapeutic has announced the opening of the Aion International Center for Psychedelic Psychiatry, a Jamaica-based facility that will specialize in the use of psilocybin in treating addiction, depression, major depressive disorder, and other mental health conditions.
Winston De La Haye, MD, MPH, DM, ICAP, will serve as the center’s medical director. De La Haye is also deputy dean in the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the University of the West Indies in Mona, Jamaica, as well as a consultant general and addiction psychiatrist at University Hospital of the West Indies.
“We need all available and effective products for the treatment of patients with mental illness,” De La Haye said in a news release. “Psychedelic psychiatry has the potential to change the lives of millions of patients, reducing their disability and improving their quality of life.”
In addition to treating both Jamaican and international patients, the Aion International Center will collaborate with the University of the West Indies and other institutions in Jamaica to research and develop other products to treat patients with mental illness.
