Turning Point hires Sarah Allen Benton as primary therapist
Sarah Allen Benton, whose 2009 book Understanding the High-Functioning Alcoholic earned national attention on a topic that resonated in both the trade and popular press, has been hired as Primary Therapist at Turning Point, the Connecticut-based phased reintegration program for young men in recovery.
Benton, a licensed mental health counselor, most recently served as a therapist/case manager at McLean Hospital’s McLean Brook transitional living program. At Turning Point she will join her husband Josh Benton, who this fall was named executive director of the organization.
Benton’s 2010 Addiction Professional article on high-functioning alcoholics earned a Gold Award from the American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors (ASHPE). She now writes a Psychology Today.com blog on the same subject.
Other professional roles that Benton has served in the field include private practice work at Lynch Wellness and Recovery Foundation.
