Silver Hill launches multi-level eating disorders program

Connecticut-based Silver Hill Hospital this month launched an eating disorders treatment program that includes inpatient and residential levels of care and that will offer a one-year recovery support component after patients depart the facility.

Erin Kleifield, PhD, a former staff psychologist for Cornell University Medical College's inpatient eating disorder unit, will lead the program, Silver Hill announced in a news release last week. “Disordered eating is an incredibly complex illness that requires many types of support,” said Kleifield. “A patient might need to move back and forth between the inpatient and residential programs.”

Silver Hill leaders believe their facility is well-positioned to manage the physical, behavioral and emotional complexities of eating disorders because of the presence of psychiatric expertise on its campus, as well as its nursing and dietary staffing.
