The Sexual Recovery Institute celebrates Recovery Month with a series of professional workshops

This month, Robert Weiss, LCSW, CSAT-S, founder of the Sexual Recovery Institute and Director of Intimacy and Sexual Disorders Services at both The Ranch in Tennessee and Promises Treatment Centers in California, will speak in various locations nationwide about the diagnosis and treatment of relationship, pornography and sexual addiction.

On September 14, 2012, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Mr. Weiss will address the assessment and diagnosis of sexual addiction at the Freedom Institute in New York City. Titled, “This Is Not a Fad: The Diagnosis and Treatment of Sexual Addiction,” the workshop will include an overview of social media’s influence on sex addiction and a brief panel discussion with Mr. Weiss and other experts including Alkesh Patel, MD, Christine Samuels, PhD, and Bart Mandel, LCSW.  Workshop attendees will earn six CEUs, and breakfast and lunch will be provided.

On September 20, 2012, Mr. Weiss will speak at the national conference for The Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health (SASH) at the Marriott Riverwalk in San Antonio, TX. That evening, there will also be a fun and informative networking event at Biga on the Banks from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Mr. Weiss will also speak at the BFI Summit for Clinical Excellence in Atlanta, Georgia, on September 22, 2012. “During Recovery Month and throughout the year, the message needs to be heard: Sexual addiction is a real problem from which motivated individuals can and do recover,” said Mr. Weiss. “Educating clinicians about diagnosis and treatment is an important step in getting clients struggling with sex addiction and their loved ones the help they need to recover.”

Mr. Weiss is widely considered one of the nation’s foremost experts on sex and technology addictions along with the intimacy disorders that often underlie these problems. A media expert to CNN, The Oprah Winfrey Network, ESPN, The New York Times, ESPN and the Today Show, among others, Mr. Weiss also has provided clinical training and program development for the National Institutes of Health, the U.S. military and behavioral treatment centers throughout the United States, Europe and Asia.
