Vermont treatment effort gets assist from across the border
A Massachusetts outpatient center that offers both methadone and injectable naltrexone (Vivitrol) treatment for opioid dependence will assist in addressing a shortage of treatment options in a section of neighboring Vermont.
Spectrum Health Systems, which operates multiple facilities in Massachusetts, announced this week that its outpatient center in North Adams has begun serving Vermont Medicaid beneficiaries. The Bennington County area of Vermont has faced a gap in services for addictions, including those targeting opioid dependence.
“As the opioid crisis continues to impact most every community, it's increasingly important to expand our offerings to as many people with various insurance plans as possible,” said Kurt Isaacson, president and CEO of Spectrum, which delivers a continuum of addiction services ranging from detox to recovery support.
