New Jersey Service Connecting Residents to Treatment Hits 15,000-Call Mark
A New Jersey confidential telephone line that connects families affected by substance use disorders to treatment options and other community resources has reached the 15,000-call milestone.
Established in early 2015 as a Mental Health Association in New Jersey response to increasing opioid use and overdose, NJ Connect for Recovery offers immediate access to alcohol and drug counselors, peer specialists and insurance experts. The call line offers support and a connection to potential treatment options and social support services.
The initiative also offers family education workshops throughout the state. “It's important to equip these families with as many skills and resources as we can to help them navigate treatment and recovery, while providing a safe environment for education and learning new evidence-based strategies for addressing substance use disorders and recovery with a loved one,” Joanne McCarthy, director of call center services at NJ Connect for Recovery, said in a news release this week.
