Group therapy association releases manual on process addictions
The American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA) has released a teaching and participant manual designed to assist treatment professionals in establishing group treatment modalities for process addictions in gambling, sex, technology, work and other topics.
A Group Therapist's Guide to Process Addictions, available for purchase on the AGPA website, includes five training modules: Understanding Process Addictions; Recovery Principles and the Therapeutic Process; Group Psychotherapy and the Recovery Process; Specific Process Addictions; and Special Topics.
Co-authors of the manual are Marcia Nickow, PsyD, faculty member of the Clinical Development Institute at Timberline Knolls; Shelley J. Korshak, MD, medical director of Chicago Psychotherapy and Psychiatry; and Barney Straus, LCSW, a private-practice psychotherapist.
