Father Martin`s Ashley opens nominations for professional excellence honor
Nominations are being accepted through May 15 for the 2014 Father Joseph C. Martin Award for Professional Excellence, an honor sponsored annually by the Father Martin's Ashley treatment facility in Havre de Grace, Md. The award is presented at the National Conference on Addiction Disorders (NCAD) to honor a professional who embodies Father Martin's legacy of treatment with dignity, respect for the 12 Steps' value, and commitment to treatment strategies promoting lasting recovery.
Each year, an independent committee of addiction and mental health professionals evaluates nominations for the prestigious award and selects the recipient. The 2013 honoree was Jerry Moe, vice president and national director of children's programs at the Betty Ford Center.
Father Martin's Ashley this year will be honoring its 10th professional with its professional excellence award. Other honorees in the history of the award have included Terence Gorski, Robert Ackerman, PhD, Debra Reynolds, DrPH, and James Cusack, CASAC.
This year's honoree will be presented with the award at a breakfast plenary session at NCAD on Aug. 23 in St. Louis. This year's conference, sponsored by the publishers of Addiction Professional, runs from Aug. 22-26.
