ATTC Network announces topics for gambling webinar series

The Addiction Technology Transfer Centers (ATTC) Network has announced a four-part webinar series exploring diagnostic and treatment issues in problem gambling. The series will begin with a 90-minute program at 2 p.m. Eastern time on March 20 that will offer an overview of problem gambling issues with a focus on the impact of the new DSM-5 criteria.

The March 20 program's presenter will be Peter E. Nathan, PhD, University of Iowa Foundation Distinguished Professor of Psychology and an expert in assessment and diagnostic issues.

Other programs in the series will discuss Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) for problem gamblers on April 24; treatment issues on May 8; and considerations for special populations on June 5.

The respective presenters for those programs will be Lori Rugle, PhD, director of problem gambling services for the state of Connecticut (April); Nancy M. Petry, PhD, professor of medicine at the University of Connecticut (May); and co-presenters Ken Winters, PhD, director of the Center for Adolescent Substance Abuse Research at the University of Minnesota, and Kate Spilde, PhD, chair of the Sycuan Institute on Tribal Gaming at San Diego State University (June).
