Provider, pageant team up on school-based prevention

Under a partnership involving addiction and mental health services provider Advanced Recovery Systems, 2016 Miss Florida Courtney Sexton will visit high schools in the state to deliver prevention messages based on The Alcohol Literacy Challenge program.

Sexton is a graduate student in health administration at the University of Central Florida. She will deliver 40-minute “Real Talk” presentations using The Alcohol Literacy Challenge curriculum, developed by researchers Micahel Dunn, PhD, and Thomas Hall, PhD, to challenge students' beliefs about alcohol's effects.

Advanced Recovery Systems operates facilities for the treatment of addiction, eating disorders and mental illness in Florida, Colorado and Washington.
