Addiction Professional earns national honors

A pair of Vendome Healthcare Media Group publications, Behavioral Healthcare and Addiction Professional, recently were recognized in multiple national journalism awards programs:

  • The blog of Behavioral Healthcare Editor-in-Chief Julie Miller earned two distinctions: a Silver Award in the Best Blog category of the American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors (ASHPE) Awards, as well as a Bronze Award in the Regular Column category of the Tabbie Awards, which are presented by Trade Association Business Publications International (TABPI). With more than 14 years covering the healthcare sector, Miller regularly posts entries that provide essential details on emerging industry stories, helping behavioral healthcare executives quickly get up to speed on pressing topics.
  • “How to Stretch $50K and Get Your Money’s Worth”, written for Behavioral Healthcare by former associate editor Julia Brown, received a Silver Award for Best How-To Article in the ASHPE Awards. Brown shared the advice of top design industry experts on making impactful facility upgrades on a limited budget.
  • “A harsh reality: Some patients will die”, the cover story in the Fall 2015 issue of Addiction Professional by contributing writer Alison Knopf, earned a pair of honors in the Azbee Awards, presented by the American Society of Business Publication Editors. The story won a Gold Award in the Heartland Region and Bronze National Award in the category of Print Feature Articles. Knopf illustrated, through gripping personal accounts from clinicians, that too few addiction treatment centers give staff members the opportunity to process the loss of a patient, often with damaging results to their career.

“The stories produced by our dedicated editors and writers drive conversations for a very engaged audience in the behavioral healthcare industry,” says Douglas J. Edwards, vice president and managing director for Vendome’s Behavioral Healthcare Division. “It’s great to see the hard work of our teams recognized in these awards programs.”

Now in their 15th year, the ASHPE Awards recognize excellence in healthcare publications. For 13 years, the Tabbie Awards have been presented to English-language B2B publications worldwide. The Azbee Awards honor excellence in the business, trade and specialty press.
