New scholarship fund will honor David Powell
It was great to hear this week from Barbara Boss Powell, widow of David J. Powell, PhD. We miss the sage contributions and good humor of the professional who made the greatest contribution to clinical supervision in the addiction treatment field, and we think of David often. Just a couple of days ago, we brought up his name when we were reviewing speaker submissions for our National Conference on Addiction Disorders (NCAD) this summer.
Barbara was in touch to let us know that a scholarship fund has now been established in her late husband's name. The David J. Powell Scholarship Fund will provide funds to professionals seeking to “enhance their skills and knowledge in the areas of understanding, treating and preventing chemical dependency and related disorders,” states a summary.
Those seeking either continuing education or formal academic training will be eligible for assistance, and special consideration will be given to individuals aiming to improve clinical supervision skills.
