Is interest in e-cigarettes waning?

Has the vape craze flamed out, or are declining numbers for e-cigarettes from the retail community simply a sign of an inevitable slowdown after staggering early growth?

Business Insider this week weighed in on this with a post definitively titled “The e-cigarette frenzy is over.” It reported on RBC Capital Markets retail survey results showing that 80% of tobacco retailers are now carrying e-cigarettes, down from 100% just last December. Also, the survey found that 23% of tobacco sellers who offer e-cigarettes want to expand their product line; back in December 2013, that number was 80%.

“Many retailers reported having too much inventory of e-cigarettes on hand,” the Business Insider article stated.

Are you finding widespread use of e-cigarettes among your patients? For those who do use the products, is this helping them to quit smoking?
