Clinical Leader Hired As Programs for Paired Drug Use and Sex Are Launched
Clinician and educator David Fawcett, PhD, has joined the staff of Seeking Integrity as the Palm Springs, Calif.-based organization prepares to open two 28-day residential treatment programs for individuals affected by the pairing of drug use and sexual behavior.
Fawcett will collaborate with Seeking Integrity CEO Robert Weiss, PhD, to open what the organization calls the world's first 28-day treatment programs for this population. The facilities are scheduled to open on April 15 in Los Angeles and in May in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The company expects to announce other treatment sites later this year.
Fawcett, a sex therapist and social worker with more than 25 years of clinical practice experience, is the author of Lust, Men and Meth: A Gay Man's Guide to Sex and Recovery, which discusses in detail the “chemsex” phenomenon that has seen a resurgence in the gay community.
Fawcett will serve as vice president for clinical programming at Seeking Integrity.
